Getting down to the real qualities of life, when you have a busy one – filled with work, family, friends, personal time and all the rest that comes with having a “life”. The simple things are what make my life wonderful – here is my crack at the top 7!
1. Act with love and kindness in all things
This can be particularly challenging when you are feeling that you have been taken advantage of, or people are yelling at you in frustration and anger. Taking a high road is a bit of a hard spot when you are in the middle of a “scene”. This one has taken me a life of practice and now that it is in the forefront of my mind it is a bit easier to maintain – remember even if the other person is losing it, you can act with kindness – you get to control yourself, and let the other person be who they need to be, then walk away knowing that you did the best you could.
2. If it feels sneaky – don’t do it
This is the best check in of all. If you get a wave of “I wonder if I should…” usually means you SHOULD. If you wouldn’t want your Grandmother to find out you probably should not do it.
3. Karma is a real *****
When I am kind towards others I get instant rewards. Even seeing someone be kind towards someone else makes me feel good. I trust kindness as the barometer for the space I live in. I live in a community where I see kind acts daily.
4. Don’t Get Even
We recently had a bad neighbor that would put nails under our tires if we parked in front of his building. He did evil acts every time one of my team at Uptown Studios parked on his side of the street, like pouring honey on the cars, dumping coffee and milk shakes on the cars and the nails… Pure evil. What the normal reaction is to get even, but we all fought that off and just reported him to the Bar Association (He is a lawyer) and we don’t park there any more to prove any points.
5. Live a Rich Life
Rich is not a monetary term when I am talking about it. Rich is being surrounded with people that care and are involved in each others lives. Rich is having a family that is happy and healthy. Rich is having enough to take care of your family. The money part would be fun to have a bit more, but it wouldn’t affect my happiness – I am already there.
6. Create Harmony
I love to be surrounded with harmony. All is well. So when it isn’t I work really hard to get things back in balance. I like to live with an even flow and without the peaks and valleys that are sudden and jolting. Easy breezy – life is good – when in harmony.
7. Laugh
This just says it all. I like to laugh until my eyes puff shut and I can’t talk…
