Happy Pride Month Everyone
This is the month where everyone can be “a little bit gay!” and join the celebration of diversity, inclusion and equity for the LGBTQIA community.
I came out in 1992 – it was amazing – I kissed a girl and I liked it! Then they wrote a song about me… Coming out is a lifetime process for anyone in the queer community. We have gotten closer to equity in our communities but we still have so much work to do. In these days I feel fearful that our hard fought rights (like Same Sex marriage, housing and employment rights and more) are in an unsafe space and we will need to be vigilant and fight hard to maintain what we do have, as far as equality and equity.
BUT TODAY I want you to shine a little bit of your support with me and celebrate the month of June as Pride Month. I think you all should go out to a Queer club and dance your hearts out or attend the Sacramento Pride Celebration, it is so much fun to be surrounded with the celebration of our community – or just dance with me – please join me!
