Making a promotional video for your organization’s next event is easy.

Make it fun, informative and short and while you are at it, make more than one.

Videos for social media promotion should be short and sweet.

Make sure and have a call to action message telling people what you want them to do and place them on your social media channels leading up to the event.  Ask your staff, volunteers, sponsors and people going to the event to share them.

It was a real joy working on the pre-event social media promotional videos for the 2017 Wide Open Walls mural festival in August and for the California Craft Beer Summit happening September 7-9.

The videos were created to promote local Sacramento artists and brewers and hear about why they are excited to participate in the events.

Three hours of videography and interviews, minimal graphics and editing and you have 6 – 8 clips to promote the event on social media.

You can do it for yourself. All you need is a good video camera and microphone and a place to edit your footage. Your phone camera will work. Get a good microphone that attaches and you are golden.

There are a lot of free and low cost resources for mobile editing: https://adespresso.com/academy/blog/best-video-editing-apps/ You can always trim and do adjustments right in YouTube.

If you want to invest in inexpensive video production tools for your phone, check out the DJI Oso gimble for iPhone for under $300: https://www.dji.com/osmo/info  This gimbal’s app will create a video for you that you can edit right in the app. Amazing.

For audio, check out the TONOR Lavalier Mic Lapel Microphone available on Amazon for $12. The audio is much better than without and on video, audio is king.

Remember to add descriptions, tags and closed captioning on your social media channels where possible to get the benefit of appearing on search queries and SEO benefits. I always place the event website URL at the beginning of the description to make it easy to find. Depending on the social media platform, use hashtags and tag other people who are in the videos.

You can do it yourself but sometimes you need professionals to do it for you.  We have an awesome team – professional videographers, producers, directors, audio techs and more, ready to make you look and sound fantastic.

Let us know how we can help you with your next event promotion.
