Yesterday I got a bundle of catalogs in the mail that must have weighed 30 pounds, not exactly the greatest thing if you’re a company being green.

My opinion of the company who sent me this package decreased considerably because of this wasteful use of paper. I got an email from them the next day touting their dedication to the environment. Wow, they must have got an earful from people like me.

Is your company just on the verge of being green? Do you care about the environment and strive to do more? Here are some ideas to make your business more sustainable:

Sign up to become a Sacramento Certified Sustainable Business.

This organization offers a review of your business and offers guidance on how to become greener along with other support services to check your company’s carbon footprint. Get certified and build your brand as a green company.

Another great resource in the Sacramento region is the Green Capital Alliance. This is a partnership of people and organizations that promote the clean tech economy, sustainability and growing our green jobs sector. They also provide resources to make your home and business more energy efficient by working with local utilities, training resources and University classes.

Also, don’t miss the Sacramento Sustainability Forum 2.0 June 18, 2014. This evening event will feature some lively speakers who are passionate about our region’s Vision of being the Emerald Valley.

There’s no time like the present to take action on being greener.

Reduce paper use in your business today by creating online documents and use the money you would have spent on printing, on a new bike!
